The Farsons Great Beer Festival in full swing 7/27/2004

The first days of the Farsons Great Beer Festival have been hailed a great success, as thousands of people and their families flocked to the Festival at the gardens of Ta’ Qali National Park. They sampled the local and international lagers and ales and enjoyed the variety of entertainment in a festive atmosphere within a relatively cool, outdoor environment.

The Festival Organiser, Mr Matthew Cuomo said: “The first five evenings kicked off to a great start with delicious food, 15 different bars serving a great range of beer and live entertainment from a number of popular and talented performers.” The Farsons Great Beer Festival has become one of the most important showcases for local artists and bands.

For the second year, the Farsons Great Beer Festival is offering an official Festival mug to beer drinkers to take back home with them. “It’s great to see patrons enjoying a good pint in their official Festival mug, especially as they are only available in limited quantities, making them a unique collector’s item,” said Mr. Cuomo. The mug can be purchased from all the bars during the Festival.

Apart from the variety of beer and food stalls serving international cuisines, visitors can also enjoy live music from top local singers and bands performing on two stages.  This evening’s entertainment on the Main Stage will start at around 9.00pm with the participation of Tony Camilleri followed by the group Krave. The progamme on the Rock Stage @ World Beers Area includes Left Play, Bitterside and Ira Losco and starts at 9.30pm.

Tonight’s special attraction will be the comic character of Frankie Quattromani.  He will will be entertaining the crowds on both the Main Stage and Rock Stage and will be roaming around the festival grounds.

Ira Losco is meeting fans and signing CDs and posters. Her latest CD “I’m in Love Again” is also available for sale at the Vodafone stand.

Radio station XFM 100.2 is broadcasting the daily evening live show from the Rock Stage @ World Beers Area from 9.30pm to 11.00pm. A schedule of the performances being held on the Main Stage and the Rock Stage @ World Beers Area is available on www.farsons.com/beerfestival

Lots of promotion prizes are being won every night.  At the Main Stage, Vodafone and Farsons Great Beer Festival are holding a daily competition through which the audience has a chance of winning prizes.  These range from a Sony Ericsson T610, Vodafone merchandise and original signed copies of Winter Moods and Ira Losco CDs. This competition is open to Vodafone users and participants will be asked to send their reply to a simple question asked via SMS. The best three answers will win one of the prizes available.

The Ta’ Qali National Park offers ample parking facilities and is easily accessible from various parts of the island. The Festival, which continues until Sunday 1 August, opens at 7.30pm daily and entrance is free.

The 24th edition of the Farsons Great Beer Festival is sponsored for the first time by Vodafone Malta Limited, Danone, Peperami, Veneziani Croissants, Mars Ice Creams, Surplus and Adventure Equipment Store, Sunshine Snacks and HP Sauces.
