Burger King gives Valletta restaurant a major facelift 4/26/2005

BURGER KING’s flagship restaurant in Valletta has re-opened its doors with a fresh new look. Significant investment has transformed the restaurant into a 1950s retro-diner, where customers can now enjoy all the comforts of 21st century service in a ‘50’s ‘Americana’ atmosphere. Key elements that make up the Americana image include red diner-style booth seating, retro neon lighting and pop art wall hangings.

Commenting on the transformation, Ms Stefania Conte, General Manager for BURGER KING franchisee, Food Chain (Holdings) Limited, said, “We wanted the new look to be in-line with our existing ‘Customer Promise’. BURGER KING is all about great tasting, flame-grilled burgers served by efficient and friendly staff in a clean and relaxing environment. We have taken the traditional elements of an American diner and brought them into the 21st century to create a more welcoming atmosphere, for example using wood instead of chrome and introducing soft lighting.”

To celebrate this occasion, BURGER KING is offering customers who visit the new-look Valletta restaurant the opportunity to collect four limited edition Coca-Cola glasses, which have been specially designed for BURGER KING. Customers will receive one Coca-Cola glass with every WHOPPER Large Meal purchased. Offer is valid until stocks last.

This major facelift coincides with the celebration of the 10th anniversary since BURGER KING started its operations in Malta. In the coming months, BURGER KING will be organising various events to mark this occasion.

There are currently three BURGER KING restaurants in Malta (Sliema, Paceville & Valletta), which are operated by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, through its subsidiary Food Chain (Holdings) Limited.

The BURGER KING system operates more than 11,000 restaurants in more than 61 countries and territories worldwide. Approximately 90 percent of BURGER KING restaurants are owned and operated by independent franchisees, many of them family-owned operations that have been in business for decades.

Burger King Holdings Inc., the parent company, is private and independently owned by an equity sponsor group comprised of Texas Pacific Group, Bain Capital and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners. In fiscal year ending June 30, 2004, Burger King Corporation had system-wide sales of $11.3 billion. To learn more about BURGER KINGâ, please visit the company's Web site at www.burgerking.com.
