The Farsons Foundation is renewing its sponsorship for the Press Photography category of the 18th Malta Journalism Awards (MJA), organised by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM).

“The Farsons Foundation has been sponsoring the Institute of Maltese Journalists since 1992. The sponsorship of the Press Photography category abides fully with the Foundation’s mission statement that is to encourage the various forms of Maltese art and culture,” said the President of The Farsons Foundation, Mr Bryan A. Gera, during the signing of the sponsorship agreement with the IĠM.

IĠM Chairman Malcolm J. Naudi said: “Throughout the years, the Press Photography category has served as the best showcase for Maltese press photographers. We wish that more press photographers would be encouraged to submit their best entries for the award in this year’s competition.”

“The 18th edition of the Malta Journalism Awards will be launched in June 2008. In the meantime, press photographers may start selecting their best three photographs released in 2007 in a newspaper or magazine. They also have to submit the original clipping accompanied with the MJA application form. The nominations will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges, including an experienced photo journalist, whose decision will be final,” explained MJA organiser Roderick Agius.

The winners will be presented with the prestigious awards at the Malta Journalism Awards presentation ceremony in November 2008.
