On the occasion of the visit of John Kolasa, General Manager of the world renowned Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Wands Limited hosted a wine tasting session for wine-loving journalists at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort and Spa.
Pierre Stafrace, Wands General Manager introduced the guest of honour, John Kolasa, a Scot who settled in Bordeaux in 1971. During his stay in Bordeaux, he discovered a passion for wines, then studied oenology and subsequently managed properties of the Janoueix family in Saint Emilion and Pomerol. In 1994, after managing the prestigious Chateau Latour, he took over the reins of Chateau Rauzan-Segla in Margaux.
John Kolasa explained the interesting characteristics of some of the great Bordeaux wines and vintages. He spoke about the origins of the Chateau Rauzan-Segla which is famous for its fragrances, lovely textures and elegance. Samples of the specially selected Chateau Rauzan-Segla 2003 and Chateau Canon 2003 were served.
Commenting on the event, Anthony Tabone Managing Director of Wands Ltd said that this is a special occasion for wine enthusiasts to meet one of the most successful and advanced wine-makers in Margaux. “At Wands, we often host wine tasting sessions which are informative and fun for both the novices and connoisseurs. In Malta, we are seeing a growing number of wine lovers who appreciate wines and want to learn more about particular wines and their origins,” said Mr Tabone.
At present, an incredible range of over 7,000 Chateau wines dated from the 1975 to 1998 is available at the best current market prices at Wands Cash and Carry in Marsa. This great selection features some star wines and exceptional bottles from Bordeaux which are not commonly found in Malta’s wine stores.
