If one single name stands for uncomplicated and satisfying red wine, it is definitely Beaujolais. Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2005, imported and distributed by Wands Limited, will hit the local stores on the traditional third Thursday of November – this year being 17th November. The Duboeuf bottles with colourful and flowery labels will be displayed on the shelves of top supermarkets, wine bars and restaurants in Malta and Gozo.
This deep red, fruity, light in body, and a delicious easy-going drink, is the very first wine released from the current year's harvest. Initially, the celebration of its arrival was more or less confined to the Beaujolais region in France. That is until wine negociant Georges Duboeuf had the brilliance to promote the occasion overseas in the early 1980s. As a result, today the tradition of celebrating this new wine of the harvest is not only fully entrenched worldwide but also, thanks to Wands Limited, it has become a custom among Maltese wine lovers since the early 1990s.
“The taste of the 2005 Beaujolais Nouveau lives up to the standards set by its colour and aroma. This is a warm wine, bold and fleshy. It is the sort of wine to help you rediscover the aromatic palate. The succulent red fruits are held together by supple tannins that create the lavish expression of a high class wine. This is the mark of a formidable vintage that will be talked about for years to come,” explained Georges Duboeuf himself.
“On November 17, our customers will discover all of this for themselves. At Wands Cash and Carry, we are releasing a good stock of Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau at a very tempting price for our customers,” said David Micallef St John, Wine Manager at Wands.
The popular Nouveau and Duboeuf's other wines come at very affordable prices. The range of Georges Duboeuf’s wines can be viewed at Wands Cash and Carry, Marsa.
