Bolla wines of Italy, represented in Malta by Wands Limited, have received a great review in the latest edition of Gambero Rosso, Italy's most renowned wine guide. Aimed at wine press, and trade and wine consumers, this influential publication is produced by two of the most important food-and-wine organisations in Italy, Slow Food and Gambero Rosso.
Gambero Rosso expert visited Bolla winery, one of the top wine producers in Verona and chose its best classical wines. The guide describes the winery, which started producing wine over 100 years ago in Soave, as “the great Verona winery, representing most of the Verona wine production. Its new development programs joined with the distribution strength of Brown-Forman Corporation and a very tight cooperation with grape growers, now controlling over 400 hectares, has brought back Bolla winery to its former prestige.”
Bolla wines that received a high score on the magazine were the Valpolicella Classico Sup. Capo di Torbe 2001, which is very rich to the nose but also light with a lot of refinement and enviable aromatic breadth; the Amarone della Valpolicella Cl. Capo di Torbe 2001 and the Recioto della Valpolicella Classico 2003.
The Recioto di Soave Cl. 2002, Soave Cl. Tufaie 2004 and Soave Cl. Le Maddalene 2003 were also commended by the Gambero Rosso expert.
