The Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) of Chicago, USA has recently announced that Amaretto Lazzaroni 1851, one of the finest liqueurs from Italy, has been awarded a gold medal in the 2007 International Review of Spirits. Scoring 93 points out of 100, Amaretto Lazzaroni was considered ‘Exceptional’ by the BTI’s tasting panel.
With roots going back to the 1850’s, Lazzaroni Amaretto is still produced and bottled in Saronno, Italy, according to an old and unique formula: the infusion of the famous cookies ‘Amaretti di Saronno’ in alcohol. The ‘Amaretti’ create a delicate almond/apricot flavour and the result is a sophisticated product with a rich Italian heritage.
Lazzaroni Amaretto can be taken on the rocks, or even mixed with cakes and ice-cream. It comes in a variety of packages, namely a 70cl standard bottle, a 1 litre bottle as well as two attractive gift packs – the Lazzaroni Duetto, which includes a 35cl bottle with a box of Amaretti, and the Lazzaroni Maxi Duetto, which includes a larger 70cl bottle and a box of Amaretti.
The BTI’s International Review of Spirits is the most authoritative, influential and respected annual spirits competition in the United States, conducting the most objective, consistent, and widely-regarded spirits reviews in America. All the products submitted to the competition were tasted blind by a panel consisting of trained BTI staff and talented guest panelists from the spirits world. BTI uses a proprietary tasting methodology that assures accurate, repeatable results. Each product received a score based on a 100-point scale and a tasting note.
Lazzaroni Amaretto is available at leading restaurants, bars, supermarkets and bottle shops, and directly from the Wands Cash and Carry in Marsa. Wands Limited is a subsidiary company of the Farsons Group of Companies.
