Kinnie is the main sponsor of this year’s Teatru Unplugged being held at the Manoel Theatre from next Friday, 7 to Sunday, 9 December.
Since its inception in 1998, Teatru Unplugged has had three main objectives, to serve as a platform for upcoming local musicians, to expose patrons to different genres of music and to entertain audiences.
“Kinnie is an enthusiastic supporter of local productions and also sponsors other major events, such as VOICES,” said Ms Lara Micallef, Brand Executive for Kinnie.
This is the 10th anniversary of Teatru Unplugged and this year the producers have tried to achieve a balance between new talent and more established artists together with the Teatru Unplugged signature format of different genres, short acts in one show.
Hosted by Claire Agius, this years’ line-up includes a number of established foreign and local artists. New York based pianists, Paul Shaw and Anne Paolini Shaw will present a fantastic classical repertoire. Solo pianist and singer Carrie as well as singer/songwriter Grimaud will also perform for the first time at this year’s Teatru Unplugged.
The second part of the show will be taken up by a local band put together especially for this year’s edition. Directed and set-up by Renzo Spiteri this band will feature a number of leading musicians together with four established local singers, Ivan Filletti, Clare Falzon, Sue Wadge and Gianni.
Performances start at 8pm. Tickets cost Lm4 / €9.32, Lm6 / €13.98 and Lm7.50 / €17.47 and can be purchased online from www.teatrumanoel.com.mt, by e-mail bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt, or by calling 21 24 63 89.
