Bollinger, the famous champagne favoured by 007 Agent James Bond, has launched a special edition vintage ‘2003 by Bollinger’.
Ghislain de Montgolfier, President of Bollinger, explained “The 2003 harvest was a difficult one for champagne. However, 2003 did produce something special. So special, in fact, that it was impossible to ignore.”
‘2003 by Bollinger’ is a soft and sumptuous Champagne, with a gloriously slow-releasing pin-cushion mousse that feels utterly satisfying in the mouth. This special vintage is presented in a contemporary version of the classic Bollinger bottle and offered in an exquisite carton box.
The 2003 harvest was historically early (a record since 1822) and finished by August 31st at Bollinger. It turned out to be a very low crop for Bollinger as the vineyards, essentially composed of Grands and Premier Crus, were particularly struck by various climatic accidents. Bollinger wanted to celebrate this astonishing year by producing a unique and non-typical wine in the lineage of Bollinger. Blending Pinot Noir from Ay and Verzenay together with Chardonnays from Cruis, the Houses’ three most historical vineyards, Bollinger created a trilogy for 2003, hence the name ‘2003 by Bollinger’.
A nice glass of Champagne is the perfect way to celebrate the start of the New Year. ‘2003 by Bollinger’, and the full range of Bollinger Champagnes, is available at the Wands Cash & Carry in Qormi.
“I drink it when I am happy and when I am sad. Sometimes I drink it when I am alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it when I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it – unless I’m thirsty.” – Madame Bollinger
