La Solatia Chardonnay from Ruffino has been recently launched in Malta at a 118 wine seminar which was held at the Preluna Hotel in Sliema.
“Ruffino La Solatia has the typical characteristics of a Chardonnay bursting with citrus fruits, orange peel and ripe apples both on the nose and palate, which immediately transport you to the sun-drenched vineyards of Tuscany. It also blends in the aromatic and floral characteristics of the Viognier grape of which a 10% is added to the final blend,” said Berenice Axisa, Wine Development Manager at A. Caruana & Sons who represent Ruffino in Malta. “The superb quality of La Solatia is confirmed by independent wine journal, Wine Spectator, which awarded it 90 points.”
Tuscany is best known for its great red wines, but white wines have always been a natural part of every Tuscan wine producer. Traditionally, these wines were produced with the local white varieties, which were also part of the historical Chianti blend. In La Solatia the Chardonnay reveals a unique expression of intense aromas - exotic fruit and acacia honey - perfectly conveying the strong character of the winemaking traditions of the Siena area.
To enhance the quality of this wine, La Solatia is fermented and aged in small French 225, 350 and 500 litre oak casks. It is a true product of an exceptional vineyard and of passionate craftsmanship.
“In my opinion this wine brings together the fruitiness and ripeness popular in New World wines with the acidity and structure which is always present in Old World styles,” added Ms Axisa.
La Solatia Chardonnay is imported, marketed and distributed by A. Caruana & Sons, a subsidiary company of The Farsons Group of Companies.
