Budweiser, official beer of the FIFA World Cup™ since 1986, is giving amateur football players around the world, including Malta, the opportunity to live the dream of playing at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, UK.
The Budweiser Cup is an exciting six-on-six football tournament and 30 participating teams from bars around Malta will be vying for the coveted prize on Saturday, 18th and Sunday, 19th April 2009 at Luxol Sports Club in St Andrew’s. Supporters are welcome to watch the tournament being held between 3pm and 9pm on Saturday, 18th and from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, 19th April.
Qualifying tournaments are currently being held around the world and approximately 16 teams will be travelling to Manchester in May for the international finals.
Ms Claudia Attard, Brand Executive for Budweiser in Malta said, “Budweiser is passionate about football and we are excited to be giving this money-can’t-buy experience to our local footballers.”
“We encourage all participating teams to bring their supporters over to Luxol Sports Club to create an animated and friendly atmosphere,” continued Ms Attard.
In addition to the grand prize, the winning team will also be given a full Nike gear including top, shorts, socks and track suit, from Urban Jungle to represent Malta at Old Trafford.
Furthermore, promotions will be held at participating outlets where Budweiser drinkers will be given flyers to fill in and hand in at any Urban Jungle store around Malta. A draw will take place at the end of April, where a winner from each store will receive a Budweiser gift set.
The Budweiser Cup is supported by Sports Experience and Urban Jungle.
