One of the beaches nominated on the Facebook page 'Corona Extra Malta Save the Beach': Ramla Bay - Gozo
To mark World Environment Day, Corona Extra has launched its very own Save the Beach campaign which aims to promote the preservation of European beaches.
World Environment Day, celebrated each year on 5th June, is one of the principal vehicles of environmental awareness and is one of the largest events of its kind.
Aiming to empower and encourage people to take a stand, World Environment Day promotes an understanding of the key environmental attitudes that are fundamental to driving change. Additionally World Environment Day is a people’s event with colourful activities such as street rallies, green concerts and parades commonplace at this time around the globe.
Corona Extra in Malta is also taking part in this year’s Pan-European Save the Beach campaign. After Maltese and Gozitan beaches requiring a good clean-up were nominated on http://www.savethebeach.org/, a shortlist of beaches across Europe will be decided by a public vote. On 11th May in Rome, one of the world’s top tennis players will pick the winning beach from that shortlist to be cleaned by the Corona Extra initiative.
As well as taking part in the international campaign, Corona Extra Malta is organising a beach clean-up in Malta on Sunday 8th May 2011. Everyone is encouraged to nominate their chosen beach on the Facebook page ‘Corona Extra Malta Save the Beach’. The beach with the most votes will be cleaned up by Corona Extra. Voting is open until 1st May 2011.
Corona Extra is imported, marketed and distributed by Farsons Beverage Imports Company Limited, a member of The Farsons Group.
