Kinnie has been regularly ranked as one of the top selling beverages on Amazon UK, ever since it was launched online in August this year.
Mr Michael Farrugia, Company Director at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc said, “We are very pleased with the consumer response and strong sales performance. In fact, ever since we launched on Amazon UK, Kinnie has regularly featured in the top 10 best selling grocery items, which is a glowing endorsement of the brand.”
Amazon, the largest online retailer, best known for its online sales of books and CDs has always been at the forefront of e-commerce and in recent years has begun to invest heavily in the UK online grocery business. Today, its grocery division offers more than 22,000 lines with Amazon driving hard to increase its market share in online grocery, which the UK Institute of Grocery Distribution expects to total over £7 billion by 2012.
According to Mr Farrugia, Amazon’s fast and reliable delivery service, with free delivery also being offered to UK residents, has helped trigger a better than expected response from tourists, regular visitors to Malta as well as Maltese living in the in UK. He added that “we can already notice a pick up in sales with many consumers letting us know of their intentions to celebrate their Christmas in the UK with Kinnie.”
Encouraged by Kinnie’s online success, Farsons is hopeful that it will open up new doors and opportunities in the UK retail market in the not too distant future.
Kinnie is produced, marketed and distributed by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc.
