Cisk Premium Lager Beer, better known as Cisk Export, was recently awarded a silver medal in the ‘International Style Lager’ category in the 2012 World Beer Cup, a global beer competition presented by the Brewers Association (BA) that evaluates beers from around the world and recognizes the most outstanding brewers and their beers.
This is the second time that Cisk Export has been recognised by the World Beer Cup.
Mr Norman Aquilina, Chief Executive Officer, The Farsons Group, explained, “We are extremely proud of this significant success for Cisk Export. This award follows a long list of other awards presented to the Cisk brand that acknowledges excellent quality as well as the unwavering commitment of the Company and its employees to delivering quality award-winning beers.”
“Furthermore, these awards give us the opportunity to showcase our beers in the international arena as they raise the profile of Cisk and boost awareness of the brand beyond our shores.”
Cisk Export is a bottom-fermented beer distinguished by its light golden colour and its lively, dense head. Its well balanced character resulting from its rich hop aroma and delicate bitterness make it a smooth, exceptional beer. Its alcohol content is 5% ABV.
“Farsons has always strived to keep up the excellent quality of its beers, which are brewed to the highest standards, using only the choicest raw materials, and this passion for excellence has once more borne its fruit," said Mr Eugenio Caruana, Head Brewer at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc.
World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 218 beer judges from 29 countries. The competition, referred to as the ‘Olympics of Beer Competition’, saw an impressive field of nearly 4,000 entries from 828 breweries in 56 countries. The 2012 competition drew the largest, most international field of entrants in the history of the World Beer Cup.
In keeping with its ongoing dedication to product quality, Farsons announced a €12.5 million investment in a new state of the art brewhouse two years ago. Works are now nearing completion and the plant will be commissioned over the forthcoming summer months. The new brewhouse will be an efficient, fully automated and versatile brewing plant, leading to improved product consistency, decreased production costs, and sufficient capacity for the foreseeable future.
