Farsons’ new €12.5 million Brewhouse will be inaugurated today by the President of Malta Dr George Abela. This is the third and final phase of a €40 million investment in three capital projects that includes a new Packaging Centre for soft drinks and a new Logistics Centre, both inaugurated in 2008.

Construction work on the Brewhouse started in July 2010 and was completed in twenty four months. The project also includes a new Malt Handling Tower, Storage for Raw Materials, a Rain Water Reservoir, a Quality Control laboratory and staff offices.

State-of-the-art technology and automation in the new Brewhouse will improve the current brewing process leading to further improved quality, productive capabilities and cost efficiencies.

The Brewhouse project completes the Master Plan that started over twenty years ago which involved a total investment of €100 million. This plan provided for the phased re-development of the beer production facilities on a ‘green-field’ site and a new Process Block and Tank Farm. This included computer-controlled processes and was inaugurated in 1990, with subsequent phases commissioned throughout the decade.
