The world famous guide 'Vini d’Italia' produced by Gambero Rosso has just awarded the Calcarole Amarone Classico 2009 by Guerrieri Rizzardi its special "Red Wine of the Year 2014” award. This unique recognition was made by a select panel of food and wine experts at the end of the tasting sessions of more than 20,000 wines to choose the wine which impressed them most.
Guerrieri Rizzardi is one of the most prominent houses in the Bardolino area. Long-established with roots going back to the 16th century, Guerrieri Rizzardi is still family owned, with Giuseppe Rizzardi directly responsible for the wine-making.
This leading house focuses on single vineyard wines producing a variety of wines from luscious reds based on Valpolicella to characterful Soaves, a rounded Ripasso and an elegant Prosecco. The obsession with quality runs through the whole range of outstanding wines and Guerrieri Rizzardi feature regularly with excellent scores on Gambero Rosso and other wine reviews.
Calcarole Amarone Classico is only produced in the best vintages, harvested by hand and dried on straw mats in order to concentrate the ripeness of the grapes. The Calcarole Amarone Classico may be cellared for many years but it can also be enjoyed when still fairly young.
Guerrieri Rizzardi wines are imported, marketed and distributed in Malta by Farsons Beverage Imports Co. Ltd. (FBIC). They are available at key restaurants and at Farsonsdirect, Mriehel.
