The internationally renowned wine magazine, Wine Spectator, recently published its ratings for Sicilian wines and again ranked highly the wines from Tasca d’Almerita, one of Sicily’s top wine producers.
Rosso del Conte, which is the flagship of the Tasca range was awarded 91 points out of 100 for its 2008 vintage. The Rosso del Conte, which many refer to affectionately as the real Super Tasca, was created by Giuseppe Tasca, Count of Almerita, a passionate, tenacious and visionary man who wanted to make a wine from Nero d’Avola and Perricone – probably Sicily’s most representative red grapes – a wine whose elegance and longevity would fully express the distinctive of the Regaleali estate. The Rosso del Conte 2008 was recently awarded the coveted Cinque Grappoli in the Bibenda reviews of the Italian Sommelier’s Association.
The 2010 vintage of Cygnus, a Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, was also highly rated, achieving 90 points. This wine was awarded the highest ranking of Tre Bicchieri in the 2013 edition of Gambero Rosso, Italy’s wine reference guide.
Tasca d’Almerita wines are represented in Malta by FBIC - Farsons Beverage Imports and are available in select restaurants and through Farsonsdirect in Mriehel.
