Following last year’s successful Movember campaign, Cisk is once again joining in this growing global awareness campaign and extending its support further this year by offering educational tours sharing medical advice and offering subsidised medical tests to generate awareness and encourage important health checks.
Movember is an international campaign originating in Australia, where men grow moustaches throughout the month of November to raise awareness about men’s health, namely testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental illness. The moustaches are intended to spark conversations about the importance of keeping healthy, spotting changes and being courageous enough to speak up when something is wrong. Participants can also raise funds for cancer charities but the main priority is to get people talking about this sensitive topic in a more lighthearted way than usual.
As part of this year’s campaign, Cisk have procured the services of a specialist doctor who is visiting various locations in a specially branded Cisk Movember van. During these educational tours the doctor is delivering a presentation to men and their families about testicular cancer, focusing on explaining what the disease is, how men can check themselves, what to do in case of suspicion, and what the treatment is in case of a diagnosis. All participants are also being given an educational leaflet together with a voucher entitling them to a medical test at St James Hospital at a special reduced price.
The educational tours started at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and are continuing throughout the month of November with STMicroelectronics, Vodafone Malta, and Betfair amongst others.
