Florence Castarède recently visited Malta to conduct an Armagnac tasting session at Farsonsdirect’s The Wine Shop in Mriehel. Florence is the head of the family-owned Armagnac Castarède - the oldest Armagnac trading house.
Established for 6 generations in the region, first in Lavardac, the Castarède family also owns the Maniban estate in Mauléon-d’Armagnac in Bas Armagnac with its 16th century château and 16 hectares of vines comprising the 3 varieties : Folle Blanche, Colombard and Ugni Blanc.
Florence conducted the tasting going through Château de Maniban’s VS, VSOP and Hôrs d’Age (XO) then capping off the evening with the impressive Armagnac Castarède 1976 vintage.
Castarède and Château de Maniban Armagnacs are imported and distributed by Farsons Beverage Imports Company (FBIC) Limited and are available in selected restaurants, boutiques and Farsonsdirect in Mriehel (www.farsonsdirect.com).
