Mr Michael Farrugia takes on the role of Executive Director responsible for Operations and Business Development of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. To better capitalise on the intense investment programme undertaken over the years, Mr Farrugia will be focusing on further developing the company’s productive capabilities, quality standards and customer service. This being essential to continue to grow the company’s local and international business. Mr Farrugia will work closely with and report to Farsons Group Chief Executive, Norman Aquilina.
“In his new appointment, I am confident that Michael will be adding a new dimension and giving more focus to our operations, working closely with the operations management team headed by Chief Operations Officer, Eugenio Caruana. This added attention is critically important as we continue to pursue the ongoing implementation of our international business development vision,” said Mr Aquilina. “Michael’s experience across the business, places him in a good position to take on this extended role and I look forward to working even closer with him to realise the continued growth and success of the Group.”
Michael Farrugia is an MBA graduate of Warwick University following attainment of a Masters degree from Edinburgh University. In his previous role as Chief Business Development Officer he has driven the company’s internationalisation strategy and has been involved in key projects and investments across the company. Mr Farrugia also chairs the Board of Farsons Beverage Imports (FBIC) Company Limited. Since he joined the company in 2006, he has had an active role in business/product innovation and growth opportunities both locally and abroad.
In remarking on his new appointment, Mr Farrugia said: “I am looking forward to this opportunity to be working even closer with the operations team to continue to cultivate a culture of operational excellence and seeing through the exciting and ambitious conversion of the Farsons Old Brewhouse which is planned to open its doors in first quarter of 2021 and which will also be a significant part of my new role.”
