It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Mr Bryan Gera, Hon President and previous Chairman of SFC plc.
Mr Gera was a long serving Director of the Farsons Board (1980 – 2011). In 1986 he was appointed to represent public shareholding on the SFC plc Board and proceeded to be appointed Chairman in 1995, a critical role he retained up to his retirement in 2011 when he was appointed Hon. President. Besides being colleague director for all these years, Mr Gera will be remembered with great fondness and deep respect for having led the Board during times of challenging investment decisions which have contributed significantly to the growth of Farsons and the realization of our vision. We have benefitted from these decisions and the Group is indebted to Bryan Gera for his steady hand at the helm during these times.
Bryan Gera was also Chairman of the Farsons Foundation for many years, keen to support deserving initiatives and causes and taking a personal interest on various occasions.
Bryan Gera came from a very solid commercial background which he developed in his family’s successful business, Alfred Gera and Sons, an old established pharmaceuticals importing Company. He was also very much involved in activities of the Chamber of Commerce where he had also taken an active role in setting up Business Education programmes, having firmly believed in the need for continuous training and education.
He will always be remembered for his wisdom, his integrity and his inspiration but also for his refined wit, his jovial character and his great ability as an enthralling storyteller who took the time to take a personal interest in those around him.
We shall miss him dearly and our condolences are extended to his dear wife Christine and his much-loved family, especially his grandchildren to whom he was a beloved ‘nannu’.
