The much-awaited Farsons Beer Festival starts tonight and runs until Saturday, 4th August at Ta’ Qali National Park. Doors open at 8pm every night, entrance is free and no entry tickets are required.
Headlining the main stage tonight are Australian band, Caravana Sun, preceded by Relikc. The Rock Stage features bands Decline the Fall, 12th Ode and Forsaken, whilst the Blues n Brews stage features Narrow Lane Trio and Kersten & Petra.
The festival offers a wide selection of beers from the Farsons Group portfolio, including new beers Gold Label Pale Ale, the latest addition to the Farsons Classic Brews range, launched especially to mark 90 years of brewing in Malta, as well as imported brands Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Desperados, speciality beers Grimbergen, Dunkel Fester, Guinness West Indies Porter, non-alcoholic beer Carlsberg 0.0%, and cider brand Old Mout.
This year, a solid waste management infrastructure has been put in place in partnership with Wasteserv, recycling cooperative GreenPak and NGO Zibel.
PlastiKAXXA, an initiative by GreenPak and Zibel, and supported by the Farsons Foundation, will facilitate an increase in the collection of recyclable material at the festival. Visitors can dispose of their crushed plastic bottles and cups in seven containers made of re-used nets and wood placed around the festival site.
Smaller containers will also be installed for the disposal of plastic caps which will be collected for GreenPak’s Nirricikla Ghall Istrina campaign.
Additionally, in an extension of their Crush & Win campaign, a lucky winner will be drawn every night and awarded €50 by GreenPak. This campaign encourages the public to crush recyclable items before disposing of them responsibly.
Ms Susan Weenink Camilleri, Head of Marketing and Communications at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, commented, “Although always present, this year we are stepping up our efforts to ensure proper waste management on site. We encourage our visitors to follow instructions and, together with our partners, we will ensure that waste is kept separate from collection through to disposal.”
This year’s edition of the Farsons Beer Festival is once again sponsored by Vodafone and supported by XFM, Algida and Krea. Other partners include PRS for Music, Taxify, Focal Maritime, Mapfre Middlesea and Go Sport.
